  International Salon
  FIAP Salon Page

Salon is an exhibition organized by the photo club where photographers all over the world are invited to share their works. These opportunities allow the photographers to be exposed to the various cultures and also allow them to learn from one another. Good works are commended and awarded medals. 4 pieces of works (prints or slides) are submitted for the exhibition, where a judging panel of about 5 judges will shortlist the top 30% of the works for acceptance and selection of top images for awards. These acceptances can be accumulated for the application of titles from FIAP as long as the Salon is patronaged by FIAP. Catalogues will be produced at the end of the Salon where the photographer's name and accepted works names will be published in the catalogue alongside with the winning works. It is prestigious that one gets an acceptance and representing their country.

Taking part in FIAP patronaged Salons…..
To push oneself to continually improve and keep taking photos, one can consider joining photographic salons (you can call it a competition or exhibition) organized by the various photographic clubs worldwide. Advantages include enabling one to gauge one's standards as well as having a chance to know more of the photographers worldwide and see their works. Photography catalogues are presented to the participating photographers. Photographers mainly strive to accumulate the acceptance points in FIAP patronaged Salons towards the prestigious FIAP Distinction titles being AFIAP and EFIAP, which can be applied through the country's representative federation. Medals and awards are presented to deserving works. Categories within the Salon circuit include "open", "nature", "photo travel", "digital" and "special themes". Medium can be colour print, mono print, colour slide, AV or digital media, depending on the Salons.

  Join a prestigious photographic society
The Royal Photographic Society was formed as The Photographic Society in 1853 with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as patrons. It was granted the use of the title 'Royal' by decree in 1894. The Society's mission today, as in 1853, is 'to promote the Art and Science of Photography'. Membership is open to everyone with a real interest in photography - and that includes newcomers to photography, teachers, historians and scientists, as well as dedicated amateurs and full-time professionals.

  Getting the photographic titles

There are no better ways, beside having solo exhibitions that are recognized, to gauge one's level in photography. One can strive for the Distinction titles of The Royal Photographic Society (RPS). Levels include the basic entry Licentiateship (LRPS title), the more advance level being the Associateship (ARPS title) and the highest level being the Fellowship (FRPS title). The Associateship and Fellowship titles are treasured by many photographers.
